6. When I try to go onto the 'buy a policy' page I get a message "The page cannot be displayed".

The message continues "The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings."

If you can't resolve this problem by clicking "refresh", it could be that your "encryption settings" need upgrading. For your security, the 'buy a policy' page and all of the others in the application section are encrypted to the highest level of security used on the Internet, 128 bit. The security settings on your browser may be set to a lower level of encryption (usually 56 bit), hence this page cannot be displayed on your computer.

To check the level of encryption on your browser you need to load Microsoft Internet Explorer (even if you access the Internet via AOL or Netscape, your browser still uses some of the functions of Explorer). Once you've loaded Explorer click on 'Help', and then from the menu click on 'about Internet explorer'. Then look for the level of encryption (or cypher strength) the version of Explorer you are running is set to. To load the 'buy a policy' page (and most secure pages on the Internet) this must be set to 128 bit.

You can upgrade to 128 bit by going to the Microsoft web site, and downloading a 'patch'. This page is:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/recommended/128bit/default.asp

It takes 2 minutes to load this 'patch', and you can then buy a policy!

Note: If you decide to upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer whilst you're there please note that, on a 28k connection, it will take 15 minutes to download the 'upload manager' and then another 2 hours 45 minutes to download the software. After this it takes about half an hour to install it.
