1. What types of policy are there and how much do they cost?

2. Why does a family or a couples policy cost more than a single policy?

The premiums reflect the differing levels of policy benefits provided. For example, under a single policy you are covered for up to £100 for the costs of retrieving lost luggage. For a couple this is up to £200 and for a family up to £400.

3. Who will be covered by the policy?

If you buy a single policy only you, for a couple you and your partner and for a family you, your partner and up to 4 children. We will ask you for the names of those to be covered by the policy and we will include this information on your policy schedule.

4. If I buy a couples or family policy, is my partner covered when they travel alone / without me?

Yes, your TravellersSOS policy provides cover for cardholders travelling independently.

5. Which policy should I buy?

The policy benefits vary for each type of policy, reflecting the likely needs of a single person, a couple or a family in a travel emergency.

For example the cash advance is up to £500 for a single policy, up to £750 for a couple and up to £1,000 for a family policy. And on a family policy we will advance up to £5,000 for you to replace lost tickets, £2,000 for a couple and £1,000 for a single policy.

The choice of which policy to buy is yours. We would normally expect a couple to buy a couples policy and a family to buy a family policy, but if you choose as a family to buy a couples policy or a single policy then that's okay.

The only thing we would say is that if there is an incident, you might not be able to receive an advance for all of the flights or accommodation costs, or be covered for all of the passports that go missing.

We think the family and couples policies are worth the slightly higher premiums.
